LogiCommerce needed support making data-driven decisions about its cloud strategy and unit economics. The company required a secure MySQL migration with near-zero downtime, an effective disaster recovery plan, and solutions for unexpected egress and inter-Region traffic costs that were driving up expenses.

DoiT Cloud Reliability Engineers worked with LogiCommerce to implement blue-green deployments for MySQL migration, develop disaster recovery strategy, and optimize cloud infrastructure. DoiT identified causes of spiking traffic costs and recommended reconfiguring services across zones and optimizing Elastic Load Balancing to reduce unnecessary NAT traversal.

Building reliable cloud infrastructure with DoiT's expertise

When LogiCommerce began working with DoiT in 2023, its main priority was to migrate its MySQL database securely to the latest version, with zero-downtime and no impact on service SLOs. DoiT Cloud Reliability Engineers worked with LogiCommerce to pre-mortem failure modes that could arise with the migration. DoiT recommended blue-green deployments with automated cutover and rollback runbooks to minimize disruption and preserve SLOs. With DoiT's support, LogiCommerce was able to continue offering its services without interruption throughout the migration.

Making informed product decisions with CRE support

DoiT CREs have provided LogiCommerce with advice and consultancy, guiding the company through its decision to start using Datadog to improve the logging and monitoring of its systems. DoiT CREs provided consultations around how LogiCommerce might benefit from Datadog and the best approach to implement it, helping the company make an informed decision.

Identifying and controlling spiking costs

LogiCommerce worked closely with DoiT to reconfigure its cloud usage, ensuring it is efficient, governed, and predictable. DoiT supported LogiCommerce in identifying why it was spending so much on internet traffic and how to reduce expenses. DoiT CREs realized LogiCommerce had a large amount of interregional traffic running up costs. DoiT explained how AWS charges for traffic and recommended putting all critical services into two zones and other services in another, drastically reducing interregional traffic and costs.

Reducing overall cloud expenditure with ongoing consultations

LogiCommerce regularly uses Cloud Analytics in DoiT Cloud Intelligence to manage its cloud costs, with a shared, real-time view, budget thresholds, and alerts across workloads and projects. DoiT remains abreast of LogiCommerce's ongoing expenditure and provides biweekly catch-ups to review cloud usage. LogiCommerce has also implemented DoiT Flexsave for Compute, which uses machine learning to identify AWS EC2 compute instances not already benefiting from discounted rates and automatically applies discounted rates to those workloads.

What's Next?

LogiCommerce is now working with DoiT to develop agentic, generative AI tools to improve its services and increase internal efficiency. The company is developing a chatbot to allow team members to respond more quickly to client queries, and a tool to enable natural-language queries to quickly access key company reporting data. LogiCommerce also intends to undertake DoiT's cloud training sessions to learn more about genAI and how to use it.
